IAMSAR Manual Vol. III: Mobile Facilities by IMO – International Maritime Organization Mobile Facilities (Volume III) is required to be carried aboard rescue units, aircraft, and all vessels to help with performance of a search, rescue, or on-scene co-ordinator function and with aspects of Search-And-Rescue that pertain to their own emergencies. Jointly published by IMO and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the three-volume IAMSAR Manual provides guidelines for a common aviation and maritime approach to organizing and providing search and rescue (SAR) services. Each volume can be used as a stand-alone document or, in conjunction with the other two volumes, as a means to attain a full view of the SAR system. It also includes Action Cards on: Basic communications plan structure; On-scene coordination; Recovery of people in the water; Man overboard; MEDEVAC by helicopter; and MEDICO-MEDEVAC Medical assistance or evacuation. The 2019 edition incorporates amendments adopted by ICAO and approved by the IMO Maritime Safety Committee.
